Having problems with my win XP SP 3, boot.ini file?

By mistake i amended my boot.ini file to change the order of windows booting. Now the order that i changed and brought the win xp as first choice was to a path to a previously deleted windows. Hence the windows wont start any more. Pl help as to how to get to the boot.ini file and change the order again without being able to boot.|||try %26quot;system restore%26quot; ----- Start ---- all programs --- accessories --- system tools ---- system restore -- click next

pick an earlier date == click next --- follow instructions .|||Try pressing F8 at during boot up and go into safe mode.|||First arrange a Windows XP installation disk.

Boot into it. When prompted, press R to start the recovery console. Bring the prompt where your Windows XP is installed. Type the following two commands.

fixboot

fixmbr

The above two commands resets your boot manager. It can solve most of the bootup problems and hopefully will solve this one too.
