How to restore boot files in Windows XP?

I have an Acer Aspire 5520-5912 and i%26#039;m using XP. I have two partitions on the HD. Both of them with windows XP installed on it.

I deleted one of the partitions with Paragon Partition Manager and told the program to redistribute the free space to the other partition. Then rebooted the computer and the following message appears:

Nvidia Boot Agent

Copyright Nvidia Corporation

Copyright Intel Corporation

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable

PXE-M0F Exiting Nvidia Boot Agent

I managed to fix it by installing Windows XP again from CD because the partition i previously deleted appeared on the Windows XP installation and then booted to the new Windows XP and changed the boot.ini file manually.

I think Windows is using the boot.ini files on the new installed XP for loading the old OS and that%26#039;s why when i delete the partition, the system no longer boots.

Anyone knows how to fix it?

Thanks!|||The other guy was sorta right, his instructions were wrong though. And didn%26#039;t go further, to the boot.ini.

Insert Windows XP disk, boot from it. At first screen select %26quot;R%26quot; for %26quot;Recovery Console%26quot;

After you do that, and select windows install, admin password, usually can press enter on each, unless professional version, where you need to enter PW. Do the following commands.

FIXMBR

FIXBOOT

BOOTCFG /REBUILD

(First question, say Yes, when it asks for Identifier, Type in %26quot;Windows XP%26quot; (or whatever you want, to identify it in boot menu, but type something) when it asks for load options, press enter)

When it finds the 2nd windows installation, name it samething different for the Identifier. Like %26quot;Windows XP 2%26quot; (or whatever you want to name it)

This will fix your problem.|||Insert the restore cd in and dont reinstall the whole windows, instead click cancel and then it suppose to go to a command prompt. Type in fixmbr and click enter... try doing that, it will restore the master boot record
